Todd Young, Republican candidate for Indiana’s 9th Congressional District, invites you to attend a town hall meeting on Thursday, September 9, in the Hoosier Room at Indiana University Southeast in University Center North, 4201 Grant Line Road in New Albany. Doors open at 6pm.
The forum, sponsored by IUS College Republicans, is part of Young’s ongoing two-way dialogue with the people of southern Indiana.
It will take place in the room where, during a 2009 town hall, Congressman Baron Hill stated that he would rather go to the dentist than hear from his constituents. This was followed by another town hall in Bloomington where Hill infamously informed attendees that they would not tell him how to run his office.
Hill now exclusively holds telephone “town halls” where constituents must register and be screened before participating. In contrast, Young will be interacting with Hoosiers in an open forum where all questions and opinions are welcome and valued.
“Elected representatives need to hear the concerns of the people they represent,” said Young. “And they should welcome their feedback, not hide from it.”
So, please join us on Thursday. Feel free to bring your questions, concerns, opinions and even your cameras. After all, it’s your town hall and it’s yourcongressional office.
