Events this week in Seymour!

Patriots;

This Friday evening we are once again going to have a "pre election" walk along US 50 in Seymour. We missed many of you last week. If you can not make it by 5:00 then come later and walk with us for an hour. If you can not walk far, then you can stand on the corner near the city parking lot----BUT PLEASE come and show your support for our brand of change in politics.

We have 400 pocket copies of the US Constitution with our TEA Party mission statement inside. These will be passed out to you on Friday at the walk. You are asked to pass these out to people who may be on the political line. Many of these people do not really understand what the TEA Party is all about or why this election is so very important. It is up to you to help pass the word to others. IF NOT YOU------THEN WHO?

BE THERE FRIDAY !!

BRING YOUR SIGNS !!!!

Tomorrow, Thursday, October 21st, Todd Young will be at the home of Lisa Mincy at 6:00 p.m. for an hour to explain his stance on the issues. Look on our blogsite for more info. Then I believe Todd will be at Dakota Ridge for more meet and greet. There will many local candidates there also.

Friday, October 29th Mike Pence will be in Seymour to support Jim Lucas in his run for state representative. The rally will be held at 9:00 a.m. in the parking lot across from the old Blish Mill concrete silos on US 50  (near the railroad crossing on US 50) How can you not want to support Jim in his efforts to unseat a liberal big spender ?  BE THERE if you can !!!

SEE YOU FRIDAY !!!!!!!!!!!!

Top 10 ways government kills jobs in America

From Arthur Brooks at The Washington Examiner:

Our politicians all seem to agree on at least one thing: There will be no recovery unless America gets back to work.
But that’s often where the agreement ends.  Once you move on to discuss how to get America back to work, opinions begin to diverge.
In general, the worst thing for job creation is a poor entrepreneurial climate.  Such a climate is brought on by the large fiscal debt, unpredictable health care costs, and a generally anti-business and pro-regulation approach by government.
In the run-up to the midterm elections, all of us should be thinking about “climate change”—about the best ways to create jobs in our nation.  We’ll hear lots of talk about recovery and stimulus, about fairness and equity, the future and change.
As we listen to the rhetoric, remember the reality.  These are the Top job killers in America.
1.      Uncertainty and business: What you don’t know can (and does) hurt you.  Businesses plan around rules.  And they are unlikely to invest if they can’t be reasonably sure about what the rules will be.  When things are uncertain, businesses hold back cash to protect themselves—and this kills jobs. My colleague Allan Meltzer has made this point in two recent WSJ op-eds: “High uncertainty is the enemy of investment and growth,” he declares in one.  “The most important restriction on investment today is not tight monetary policy, but uncertainty about administration policy,” he argues in the other.
2.      Uncertainty and the consumer: Uncertainty isn’t just bad for companies—it’s bad for consumers, too. If I think government policy may provoke a double dip in the economy and my job is on the line, there’s no way I’m going out to buy a new car.  For that matter, even the possibility of a huge gas tax would make me less likely to make a car purchase decision. All this kills jobs.
3.      High corporate taxes: Americans are shocked to learn that we have some of the highest corporate taxes in the world.  In fact, Japan is the only developed country with a higher corporate tax rate than the United States. Whether we like it or not, the corporate tax is a tax on jobs. It makes it more expensive for firms to function, which costs jobs. But even worse, it drives companies to find more tax-friendly environments in other countries.
4.      Unhealthy health insurance costs: The high health insurance costs associated with hiring new workers hits small businesses particularly hard, according to AEI economist Aparna Mathur. Government health mandates specify exactly what kinds of coverage have to be included in insurance policies.  This makes increasing headcount a costly exercise, and so kills jobs. One major CEO told me recently that his hiring was stunted by the new mandate to cover workers’ kids up to age 26.
5.      The threat of unionization: In a global economy, it’s fairly simple for a lot of firms to avoid unionization: They can move overseas and take their jobs with them. Policies that favor unions make this decision more attractive.
6.      Inability to hire and fire: In Europe, government regulations and employment protection laws reduce the flexibility of firms to downsize their operations when they need to.  They also discourage those same firms from upsizing their operations when they would otherwise do so, and are thus a job killer. This is why Spain has a 20% unemployment rate (and about 40% among workers under 25). Restrictions on firing are a job killer.
7.      Trade restrictions: Free trade favors consumers everywhere, and benefits workers in industries where America has a comparative advantage. Tariffs and other barriers benefit industries that are already in decline. This is why economists always tell us that over the long run, trade barriers slow modernization are a net job killer.
8.      Credit: Poor credit access especially hurts new and young firms that are eager to expand their operations.  The new Consumer Financial Protection Agency could make matters worse by expanding burdensome regulation of these financial markets, killing jobs in the process.
9.      Increasing unemployment insurance: Everyone wants to ease the burden on the unemployed, so it is tempting to extend unemployment insurance, as our government has recently—today, to as much as 73 additional weeks. Unfortunately, this kills jobs and economic recovery. Harvard economist Robert Barro estimates that if unemployment insurance had not been expanded, the unemployment rate would now be 6.8% rather than 9.5%.
10. Encouraging frivolous lawsuits: This increases the costs of doing business in America, with one study estimating that we waste as much as $900 billion a year on excessive tort litigation—that’s 6.5 percent of GNP or $12,000 annually for a family of four. As a result, company capital that could be used for expansion and job creation goes to the trial lawyers instead. And like so many anti-business measures, such litigation drives up costs for consumers, which reduces demand and kills jobs even more.

Baron Hill's Smokescreen!

During the Indiana 9th District Congressional debate Tuesday night in Bloomington, Baron Hill attempted to draw Todd Young into a "pledge" to not privatize Social Security.  It was a weak attempt by Hill to drive voters away from Todd Young, after the Hill campaign ad showing Young calling Social Security a "Ponzi scheme".

Some thoughts:

First, Social Security IS a Ponzi scheme.  The benefits paid to those "first in" are paid by those who are "last in" and that is no different than the schemes that Bernie Madoff and (closer to home) Tim Durham perpetrated on their investors.  The only difference is that Madoff and Durham used much of the funds they collected for their own personal aggrandizement.

Secondly, will someone in the Todd Young camp PLEASE tell the candidate to hammer Baron Hill on his voting record and don't stop hammering!  Baron has tried to make a career out of telling everyone in this district how he is a "fiscal conservative".  In fact, Baron Hill has voted with Speaker Nancy Pelosi 86% of the time on key votes.  (12 of 14).  His voting record is far from conservative!  Here is a link to follow for proof!

Here are the votes:

1. Voted FOR repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell
2. Voted FOR New Jobs Stimulus bill                                COST $116 BILLION
3. Voted FOR The Original Stimulus Bill                            COST $787 BILLION
4. Voted FOR SCHIP                                                       COST $  33 BILLION
5. Voted FOR the Lily Ledbetter law to enrich trial lawyers
6. Voted FOR Cap and Trade                                           COST ?????? BILLION
7. Voted FOR ObamaCare                                                COST $1.3 TRILLION
8. Voted FOR Medicare doctor fix budget gimmick           COST $200 BILLION
9. Voted FOR Estate tax increase
10. Voted FOR increasing the Federal debt limit                COST $1.9 TRILLION
11. Voted FOR another Jobs  stimulus bill                         COST $19.5 BILLION
12. Voted FOR Senate healthcare bill by parliamentary trickery

These votes, in my opinion, are far from being conservative.  Baron Hill is NOT a Conservative!!  He calls himself a Blue Dog but I say he is a Nancy Pelosi LAPDOG!  He is an arrogant, Liberal, tax and spend, Progressive who has supported Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama in order to further his political career in Washington, DC.  He no longer (if ever) represents the voters of the 9th District and needs to be sent to retirement 2 weeks from today.

The Fire Pelosi Bus Tour in Jeffersonville MONDAY!!!!

FirepelolsiJeffersonville

"Town Meeting" in Seymour Thursday October 21st!!

THE NATION WILL HEAR FROM THE TEA PARTY PATRIOTS ON NOVEMBER 2nd!!
Are you ready to do something right here in Jackson County to help stop Pelosi
from ramming more of her progressive agenda down our throats?

Even if you are not 100% a Todd Young fan, you CAN BE 100% against sending Baron Hill back to Congress for another two years of bailouts, stimulus bills, and tax increases.  Let’s show Baron Hill that We The People have more power than all his campaign money, union support, and negative TV ads.  We The People will have the final say in which agenda is best for the future of America!

I am hosting a We The People “Town Meeting” to see how many of you are ready to be active in a grassroots, GET OUT THE VOTE campaign against Baron Hill, Nancy Pelosi, and ultimately, the move toward socialism.   We need your help contacting voters who would be swayed by Baron’s TV campaign lies.  We need to stand on the truth and tell these voters to vote for Todd Young, if they want to STOP THE SPENDING, REPEAL OBAMACARE, and TURN THIS COUNTRY AROUND!!

Todd Young has promised to attend our Town Meeting!!  Please come to meet Todd Young and hear how he will stand up to the corrupt Washington politicians for what is right for us and for the country.  And we can let him know what OUR expectations are for him to represent We The People of Jackson County, because this is OUR Town Meeting!   We will pray for Todd and encourage him to stand strong on the Constitution and strong for us in Washington.

Come to our Town Meeting THURSDAY, OCTOBER 21ST, 6PM, at my house, 451 Lasher Dr., Seymour.
Meet Todd Young, hear the truth about Todd “straight from Todd”, and volunteer to help put an end to Baron Hill’s arrogance and unconstitutional spending of our money.

If you want to make a difference, please, PLEASE, PLEASE come our Town Meeting and  volunteer to help us.  If we get enough volunteers at this meeting, we will organize to call targeted voters, knock on doors, deliver yard signs, or write personal letters to the editor or to friends and neighbors.  We will counter Baron’s lies with the truth and ask them to vote for Todd Young for Congress if they want American style liberty for their children and grand children and generations to come.

Please RSVP as soon as possible!!

God Bless America!

Tea partiers won't go when fun ends

From Ed Feulner and Senator Jim DeMint at Politico:

In only 21 months, the tea party has exploded from a handful of scattered, spontaneous rallies into a full-fledged national movement capable of throwing out incumbents. Challenging entrenched Washington habits, it is a force both parties must reckon with.

Skeptics and opponents, however, continue to ask two basic questions. First, does the tea party have any real philosophical depth, a historical pedigree? Second, will its force dissipate after the elections?

In short, critics accept that the tea party has a present — but they question whether it has a past and a future.

Yes and yes. Yes, the tea party has a pedigree as old as our nation, and yes, we think it is likely to continue to play a significant role in politics after Nov. 2. People in both parties who hope to wish it away and continue business as usual had better think twice.

Americans have been disappointed by leaders in both parties who campaigned to right past wrongs and then, after getting to Washington, cared more about power than promises. Tea party supporters care more about principle than party labels or politics.

Tea party members voice the kinds of concerns that even some of President Barack Obama’s former supporters are beginning to raise. As one Obama voter asked the president at a recent town hall, “Is the American dream dead for me?”

These are the questions Americans are asking nationwide — in their kitchens, church halls and ballparks. These are the concerns expressed at tea party rallies everywhere.

The tea party seeks answers to such questions not in the dictates of Washington today but in our country’s founding principles. There, it finds a prescription for constitutional, limited government based on God-given rights — not a Utopian blueprint for bureaucratic-managed change.

The tea party, in other words, is that inner voice that speaks to us when things go wrong — the conscience of the nation at a crucial point in our history.

What has gone wrong is clear. The “stimulus” package has failed to get this country back on its feet. The latest unemployment figures show that we still have anemic growth and nearly 10 percent unemployment. As Americans suffered, Washington wasted its time on a gargantuan, unmanageable and unaffordable health care package. No wonder many Americans feel frustrated.

But underneath the frustration, the tea party has roots that are deeper and aim higher. Deeper because it is within the best tradition of popular movements in our history — from the Great Awakening that gave rise to the American Revolution to the conservative revival that helped elect Ronald Reagan. Higher because it aims to recover our moral compass, bequeathed by our Founders and preserved ever since.
The tea party also symbolizes Americans’ indomitable desire for a better life. It reminds us that we’re a country of free people who understand that liberty is fragile and must be vigilantly defended.

Some past grass-roots movements have succeeded, and others have failed. Success comes because the energy of the moment is translated into a lasting, governing philosophy consistent with the settled opinions of the American people.

On this score, prospects look good. The tea party isn’t about to go away after the November elections. Its powerful message of limited government is likely to remain a sharp thorn in the side of those in both parties who want to continue politics as usual.

Take Obama’s health care package, which tea partiers have labeled “Obamacare.” Obama and Democrats rammed this through Congress, against the wishes of a majority of the American people.

But the repealing legislation should not itself contain some new massive health care plan. Even if the legislation offers good policy, the tea party is here to remind Republicans that pushing large, unexamined bills through Congress is wrong. We need to repeal Obamacare immediately, then openly debate and pass conservative-drawn, sensible and broadly supported health care reform.

It’s no surprise that pollsters Scott Rasmussen and Doug Schoen found that more than “half of the electorate now say they favor the tea party movement, around 35 percent say they support the movement, 20 [percent] to 25 percent self-identify as members of the movement and 2 [percent] to 7 percent say they are activists.”

This means that all those protesters with their Constitutions at tea party rallies nationwide represent millions of fellow Americans. The answers they seek won’t be found in the thousands of pages of new legislation coming out of Washington.

They are in those documents that first defined this nation and provide the most just framework for a free people to work hard, play by the rules and succeed.

Ed Feulner is president of The Heritage Foundation. Sen. Jim DeMint is a Republican from South Carolina.

TEA Party Protest in Seymour!!!

Patriots;

Do not forget about the weekly walk on U.S. 50 in Seymour. Last week we had about 25 folks how up but we need more every week up to the election in November. Last week we had a public TV crew stop when they saw us. They filmed and interviewed some members about our mission. PLEASE DO NOT leave it up to others. Be there Friday !!!!

Check the blogspot for more info.   wwwtheseymourpundit.blogspot.com

If you can not get there by 5:00 then come when you can. That way we can have exposure from 5:00 until 7:00 or so. Please come spend one hour with us. If you can not walk far, then stand near a corner. We meet at the city parking lot near US 50 and Walnut Street. Bring your signs. Please stay back from the street a few feet and do not stick your signs over the curb and in the traffic pattern. There is a lot of traffic between 5:00 and 7:00 on Friday evenings so we got a lot of thumbs up and honks of support.  BE THERE (for at least one hour).

Some of you might have read Lisa Deaton's letter to We The People on our blogspot early this week. Her letter shows the frustrations that can result when We The People do not get involved. If you want government by the people, that means you must get involved in some way. There are candidates that still need help. Volunteer to help a candidate that you want to see win the election.

On November 3rd, will you be happy with the election results? If not, will you be able to say you did enough to help? I will assure you that the far left will not back off now, after the November elections or ever. As our founders warned, it will take We The People being active to preserve the Republic. The TEA Party will be here after the elections, next winter, summer---even after the 2012 elections. We will need your help !

How many others have you recruited to the TEA Party?

It is Time To Be Counted !

3.       BOOK - Refounding America: A Field Manual for Patriot Activists –buy it at http://www.refoundingamericabook.com/  or at www.Amazon.com.   I’ve written about this book before.  In this email, I’m including some of the material that is in the book.

4.       ACTION – suggested in Refounding America:
“Set up five screen names.  Reply to progressive online media companies and blogs every day to five different websites.  Keep to your values, and show the editors that their writers are out of sync with their readership.  If 100,000 readers of this book reply to 5 progressive sites daily, we’ll have 3½ million opportunities to refute their lies and spread the truth to 100 times more readers every week.  And the press follows these progressive sites…”

Top 5 progressive websites identified by the book are:
The Huffington Post
Slate
Salon
Move On
The Daily Kos

Others are:
Act Blue
America Blog
The American Prospect
Common Dreams
Crooks and Liars
The Daily Beast
Daily Dish
Fire Dog Lake
Five Thirty Eight
Media Matters
Mother Jones
The Nation
The New Republic
Open Left
Talking Points Memo
Think Progress
I haven’t checked these websites out, so let me know if you find that any are no longer active, aren’t Progressive, or anything else that doesn’t seem right and I will pass the information along to all of you.

5.       INFORMATION/ACTION – from Refounding America.  Use Saul Alinsky’s 13 Rules for Radicals against the Progressives.  According to Alinsky, the principal job of an organizer is to bait the opponent into reacting.  Here are his 13 rules.  Each one is explained briefly in the book.  I will have copies of the explanations at tomorrow night’s Freedom Group meeting.
1.       Power is not only what you have but what the enemy thinks you have.
2.       Never go outside the experience of your people.
3.       Whenever possible, go outside the experience of the enemy.
4.       Make the enemy live up to their own book of rules.
5.       Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.
6.       A good tactic is one that your people enjoy.
7.       A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag.
8.       Keep the pressure on.
9.       The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself.
10.   The major premise for tactics is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition.
11.   If you push a negative long and hard and deep enough it will break through its own counterside.
12.   The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.
13.   Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.

6.       INFORMATION/ACTION – more from the book.
You’ve seen Progressives standing outside a business protesting.  Instead, conservatives should plan a “Support Fest”.  An example from the book:  “Pick a local or regional bank that did not take federal bailout money; either directly or indirectly through a parent company.  Move your accounts into that bank.  Then, contact the bank manager and schedule a “Support Fest” publicly thanking management for being prudent business people and free market patriots.  Display signs like, “Thank You for Believing in the Free market,” and “I Bank with Capitalists, Not Cronies.”  Remember, call the media!”

7.       EVENT – don’t forget tomorrow night’s Freedom Group meeting – 6:45pm at the Brown County Library, east end of Gould Street in Nashville.  I will have copies of  “The 5000 Year Leap” for sale at cost - $5.50.
