So, where where they when they had power in Congress in 1994-2006 and the White House in 2001-2008? All this screaming and yelling could have been avoided if Republicans had acted. They had their chance to fix this, but chose to squander their precious opportunity. Given that failure, it is hard to get upset at what the Democrats have done. Who knows, with any luck their plan will work out just fine. I do not wish failure on any political party, because when political parties fail, Americans take the hit. At least the Democrats tried to do something other than just maintain a lousy status quo for a couple of decades. Republican proposals are too little, too late.
